About This Item

New York: Arno Press, 1972. Reprint of an 1893 study of working women from the colonial period onward, mostly in America. Campbell began as an author of children's books & home economics, became interested in working women, poverty, & social reform, and began writing on economics and labor. Shortly after this book's original publication, she came to the University of Wisconsin to teach sociology & economics. This reprint is one of the publisher's American Women: Images and Realities series. Hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, likely as issued. Light wear to book, some foxing/spotting to top edge; name/address label mostly removed on free endsheet; minor creasing to a few pages, one page dog-eared with a marginal ink note, one other ink note seen. Text otherwise appears clean; [4], xii, [7]-313 pages, list of the series; index, bibliography, appendix.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Octavo.
