Robert Gordon Vosper (1913 - 1994) was an American educator and librarian who oversaw college libraries at the University of Kansas and the University of California, Los Angeles. Vosper began his career as a junior librarian at UC Berkeley and Stanford before coming to UCLA in 1944. In 1952, Vosper was appointed director of libraries at the University of Kansas, where he served until 1961. During his tenure at KU, Vosper is credited with developing the library's collections and establishing it as a major research library. In 1961, Vosper returned to UCLA as director of libraries, a position he held until his retirement in 1973. During his tenure at UCLA, Vosper oversaw the library's growth into one of the largest and most comprehensive academic libraries in the country. Vosper was a recipient of the Joseph W. Lippincott Award, the highest honor bestowed by the American Library Association, and was named one of the 100 most influential librarians of the 20th century by American Libraries magazine.
