About This Item
Bramhall House, 1965. hardcover. Very Good/Yes Good. 12x12.5. From the dust jacket:This new edition of one of the most important works in the world of modern architecture is designed to make it more readily available at last to a wider audience. The now priceless original edition, which was printed on only one side of each sheet and therefore bound in double-page folds, has been out of print for many years and virtually unobtainable. The Horizon Press facsimile edition of 1965, similarly printed and bound, indeed faithful in every respect to the original, has now also run out of print. The present edition is printed on both sides of each sheet and with only slightly smaller margins; it is in all other respects identical with the previous edition. The resultant economies in machine production now finally bring this great work within the reach of many who have for years doubtless awaited its availability in a volume of this kind, with text and illustrations complete and in their full original size. Protective plastic cover for dust jacket yellowed and with tape residue, dust jacket has creasing. Book is in excellent condition with a few marks from age.

Regarding publications dealing with Wright’s work, this book and its various editions are almost as important as STUDIES & EXECUTED BUILDINGS OF FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT. Whereas the Wasmuth is entirely hardline drawings with a written introduction by Wright, this work is a combination of photographs, drawings, and essays written by several contributors. The essays written by Wright that are published as part of this work retain more relevancy today than the essay in AUSGEFÜHRTE BAUTEN UND ENTWÜRFE VON FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT, despite the fact that many of the same topics are considered. Louis Sullivan’s essays provide a great deal of detail about the Imperial Hotel. Not all of the essays in this book are in English.
