All edges speckled red, top edges darkened. Some endpapers starting at gutters, but hinges sound. Offset browning to endpapers. A little worm damage to margins of vol. II, not affecting text. Bookplate to inside front board or front free endpaper of all vols ('ex libris Roger Quirk'; Roger Quirk, 1909-1964, historian and civil servant). Dark blue ownership stamp 'R*L' to all tps.
