Fine brown morrocco, raised bands, and what appears to be japan-silk boards and endpapers. (Daudet's father was a silk mfg.) An uncommonly and particularly well-preserved set; tight, bright. Embossed gold circular monogram on the front board, at spine "RWCS". Illustrations by Lucius Rossi, photogavured by Goupil & Co. Paris for the Little Brown edition. As noted, translated by George Burnham Ives and introduced by Brander Matthews.
