first edition small folio [2 (general title)]; [16], 316, [12 (index)]; [12], 102; [8], 52; [6], 103, [1 (blank)], [4 (3 index plus a blank)], general title page printed in red and black, portrait frontispiece plate engraved by R. White, each part with a separate dated title page and pagination, a few engraved illustrations, contemporary sprinkled calf, spine with raised bands, closed tear (no loss) in last divisional title unobtrusively repaired on its blank verso with archival tissue, the joints, ends of spine, and corners very skillfully refurbished. Nice copy.
