Works of Charles Dickens by Charles Dickens - 1867, 1868, 1869: 26 Volumes Complete

This is a handsome, 26-volume set of the "Works of CHARLES DICKENS" in nice condition. (The set was carefully gone through and some minor condition issues were found - please see the detailed condition summary.) The volumes are dated 1867, 1868 and 1869; Hurd and Houghton "Riverside Edition"; New York. The set is beautifully illustrated with many full-page engravings by George Cruikshank, John Leech, F.O.C. Darley, Phiz (H.K. Browne), John Gilbert, and others. Also included is the publisher's original 4-page "Winter List" catalog which includes a listing for this set.

Condition:
Overall a very nice set - here are a few issues found: American Notes, Great Expectations, Pickwick Papers, Our Mutual Friend vol I have staining to the end papers & pastedowns. Our Mutual Friend vol I has a small tear at the bottom of the title page. Pickwick Papers vol I has tanning at the upper-inner corners between pages 66 & 67 from a slip of paper left between them. Little Dorrit vol I - pages 44-56 have tears at the lower outer corners with pieces missing. Bleak House vol II - tear at the outer edge of the rear end paper. Martin Chuzzlewit vol I - the first 2 end papers are adhered at the top edge. Tale of Two Cities - both the left and right edges of the spine have a tiny cloth tear; small tears along the top edge of a few pages at the front. David Copperfield vol I - small cloth tear at the top of the spine; tiny cloth tear at the left edge of the spine. David Copperfield vol II - small cloth tears at the top of the spine; small piece missing at the top of the front end paper.
