Green title-labels with gold lettering. Marbled edges and endpapers. Some volumes with additional engraved title-page. Library edition of Dickens' works, including the classics Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, Great Expectations, and others. Illustrated with reproductions of drawings by Hablot Knight Browne (Phiz), George Cruikshank, Marcus Stone, John Leech, D. Maclise, J. Tennel, C. Stanfield, Frank Stone, G. Cattermole, and F. Walker. Last collected work published in his lifetime. Predecessor to the 1870s illustrated library edition containing additional material published after 1866.

Some age wear on head and tail of spines, corners and parts of edges. Minor abrasions on boards. Sporadic foxing to leaves, primarily to first and last few pages. Hinges on vol. XVIII starting, stain on front cover of same volume. Hinges on rest of volumes tight. Bindings in overall good, interior in good+ to very good condition. Synopsis

Charles Dickens (7 February 1812  - 9 June 1870) was an English author of many notable works, including Great Expectations, A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist , and A Tale of Two Cities.  Multiple publishing firms have released bound collections of his works.  Notable sets of Dickens Works have been published by Chapman and Hall in a 24 piece set, and Baker and Taylor in a 12 volume set.
