Bound in golden-tan faux leather with gilt lettering and border on front, red title panel on spine with elaborate gilt decoration and title within panel. Gilt is sharp and bright. No wear to boards. Other than a faint smudge on the lower left of the front panel, there are no other marks or wear to boards. Top edge gilt . Red silk page marker. Interior clean, no marks of any kind, no creases. Bottom edge of text block has a few tiny pale spots. Text in two columns. A very handsome, solid, clean volume. Short stories by French 19th century author Guy de Maupassant,(1850-1893) generally considered the greatest French short story writer. His short stories (he wrote 300) are often robust comedy, and are usually built around simple episodes of everyday life that reveal the hidden side of people. 606 pages. 5.5 x 7.5 inches.
