Boston: Dana Estes & Company. 1904. Hardcover. A 14-volume hardcover set presenting the major works of Leo Tolstoy. Includes his War and Peace as well as Anna Karénin (Karenina), along with short stories, essays, letters and remembrances. Each volume with tissue-guarded frontis illustration, as well as a handful of additional black & white illustrations in each. This "Illustrated Sterling Edition" translated and edited by Leo Wiener. --- In full green cloth covers with Tolstoy facsimile signature in gilt to covers; spine titling and decorations also in gilt TEG (top edges gilt). --- The back panels of three of the volumes with severe mottling and loss of green tint to the cloth. Otherwise, these books are tightly-bound, unmarked and sound, though some pages unopened. (NOTE: Due to the weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested for any shipment other than by USPS Media Mail in the US.); Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall .
