About This Item

Rare first edition of this 1696 ecclesiastical work. Compilation in one volume of the Sermons and other Discourses of Dr. John Tillotson. Pages are 4 + 14 preface + 4 Table of Text + 779 Main body + 22 Tables. Leather bound, with six raised bands to the spine. 99% of the pages are remarkably clean, with a condition of Very Good. Spine title is missing, leaving a gap in the leather. Front and back boards are cracked to spine, but still held together very well. Leather scuffed with age, and a large circular mark to the front board (please see photographs). Back board has same signs of wear and tear. Inside front board has an ink signature, and there are various in blots and stains both to the inside board and end paper. Frontis opposite title page is stained around the edges and has a small tear to the binding at the top and bottom of the page. Body of the book tightly bound. 645 has a large ink stain at the top of the page.
