Owner's signature on the front end-page of each volume. All the pages are browned and marked from age. Each volume has dark green cloth cover boards and spines with gilt lettering. The covers are a bit dirty and show rubbing, wear, and marks.Vol. 1: frontispiece, engraving on steel, of Dr. Johnson. Creasing on page 306 and graphite marginalia on the title page and front end-page. 336 pp. Inlaid paper bookmark.Volume 2: Large creasing on pages 319-322; additional minimal creasing on several page corners. 402 pp.Volume 3: Minimal creasing on various page corners. 433 pp.Volume 4: 384 pp. Discoloration along the fore edge of the pages.Volume 5: Very light graphite marginalia on pages 9-16 and 419. Creasing on page 150 and 483; very small corner creasing on other various pages. 520 pp.Volume 6: light graphite marginalia on pages 96-104, 140-157. Torn corner on page 257/258. There is light marginal creasing on many of the pages and page corners. 428 pp.Volume 7: Creasing on pages 253, 283-290; there is additional light marginal creasing on many of the pages and page corners.
