London: Bickers and Son, 1883. [Shakespeare] FINE LEATHER PRIZE BINDING. Octavo (25 x 19cm), pp.lxi [3] 1002 [2]. With an engraved portrait of Shakespeare and his facsimile signature underneath. Title page lettered in red and black. Contemporary burgundy full morocco, boards lavishly gilt-tooled, upper with the gilt armorial device of the Licensed Victuallers' School. Gilt titles, tooling, and raised bands to spine. Gilt dentelles to turn-ins. All edges gilt. Blue and white marbled endpapers. Lightly spotted throughout, most heavily to preliminaries, rear blanks, and endpapers. Some offsetting from portrait. Front flyleaf cancelled. Single white mark to top edge. Gentle scuffing to boards, sunning to spine, rubbing to joints, raised bands, and extremities. Very good. A fine leather-bound tome of the Bard's work.
