Boston: American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, by Crocker and Brewster, 1842. First edition. Wraps. Near fine. 12mo. 64pp. Title page in English and Dakota; the remainder in Dakota. Illustrated with woodcuts. A translation by Riggs into Dakota of Gallaudet's "Mother's Primer" and "Child's Picture Defining and Reading Book". Cover, if there ever was one, replaced at an early date with a pale blue wapper, and housed in a cloth covered chemise and leather backed slipcase, gilt title. Occasional light foxing but near fine. Scarce.
Sabin 71344.
Riggs later was responsible for publishing the Holy Bible in Dajota as well as a Dakota-English dictionary.
