About This Item

Seattle: [Marcel Hatch], 1981. First Edition. Illustrated wraps. Good. Norman Hathaway, Lynda Barry, Mark Michaelson, Bob Newman, Stephen Peringer, Holly K. Tuttle, Ward Payne et. al.. Folio. Varying pagination: Successively, [48pp., 36pp., 28 pp.]. Wrappers printed in color, saddle stapled. Generally Very Good or better, with center fold of Issue 2 loose, and top left corner of that issues cover lightly crinkled. Complete run of the free "quality magazine consisting entirely of full-page advertisements" from printers, illustrators, restaurants, clothing boutiques, tattoo parlors, bands ... an opportunity for young graphic artists."

A slice of Seattle style in the New Wave era. Includes ads for Dreamland (Danny Eskinazi's emporium of vintage drag that included WWII leather bomber jackets, 1950s new-old-stock shades, kimonos imported from Japan, vintage Levis, superb rayon Hawaiian shirts, and so much more); Trattoria Mitchelli (Dany Mitchell's lauded effort to give Seattle panache and worthy late-night chow in Pioneer Square); the Blackouts, the best band out of Seattle's post-punk underground scene, featured here in a full-page Engram Records blast for their top-notch EP, "Men in Motion;" among other obscure cultural touchstones of the era. Now preserved in a clear archival sleeve with acid-free backing.
