2nd edition, 1739, parallel text (Latin and English ), 364 pages + index, title page in red and black, main text black only; engraved panels at head of each chapter and small decorative images at end of preface, main text, and index | this copy is in leather binding with engraved panels and five raised bands; boards are in poor condition, very dried out and badly worn at edges, with front board completely detached; text block is intact; there is some evidence of a water spill along outer vertical edge, most conspicuous on title page (please inspect image), barely discernible by p.70 | reverse of title page has a handwritten (pencil) list of the emperors, and there are a few more pencil notes on the final page, which is otherwise blank; main text is clean and free of notes etc; in summary, this is an attractive copy of a scarce title, in need of rebinding, otherwise very good condition bearing in mind its age | carefully packaged and dispatched from UK within two working days
