About This Item
Mount Washington, MA.: The Careless Press, August 1933, [December?] 1937, and [December?] 1938. Whole numbers two, five and eight of (approximately 21 numbers published). Uniform 4pp. leaflets (19.5 x 14cm) on varied colored paper stock. Typographic decorations and illustrations. Fine. Three early issues of this spritely annual paper, a self-denoted "attempt in the manner of Amateur Journalists of the '70s when 'Pop was a Boy Like Me' and each issue An Enchiridion Of Type, Borders, Cuts, et cetera ...." This personal undertaking mirrors its predecessor, "The Busy Idler," an 1876 one- shot fund-raising paper sold at the Mount Washington Fair, enabled by Corell's acquisition in 1931 of a 7 x ll" Pearl printing press and his persistent hunt for and acquisition from a wide range of sources of old type and illustrative cuts. While numbers 5 and 8 do not specify their months of publication, they both include a Christmas Greeting. OCLC records appearance through at least a 21st number, published in 1953.
