Hedges. a short story by American writer Gilman, first published in January 1892 in The New England Magazine. enlightens the reader on women's health, motherhood, mental breakdown and its treatment, as well as feminism and gender relations in late 19th-century America. Gilman herself died by suicide on August 17, 1935 at age 75.

Synopsis

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a 6,000-word short story by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, first published in January 1892 in The New England Magazine. It is regarded as an important early work of American feminist literature, illustrating attitudes in the 19th century toward women's physical and mental health.
