About This Item
Toronto: Inclusion Press, 1997. First edition. Paperback. Very Good +. 154 p.; small paperback, VG+ condition. In 1982 Nicola Schaefer published "Does She Know She's There?", a memoir of life with her profoundly disabled daughter Catherine. Yes! She Knows She's Here continues Catherine's story as she moves into a home of her own with 24 hour support. An expanded biography incorporating both books was to be published c. 1998. The present volume is a detailed account of the challenges faced by Catherine and her family in dealing with multiple, severe disabilities, and Nicola Schaefer's commitment to enabling her daughter to have a life of dignity and self-determination despite all obstacles.
