About This Item
New York, NY The Viking Press, 1993. Hardcover First Edition [1993]; First Printing indicated by a complete number line. First Edition [1993]; First Printing indicated by a complete number line. Near Fine in Near Fine DJ: The Book is close to flawless: just a hint of shelf rubbing along the bottom edge; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. The DJ shows mild overall rubbing; a former bookseller has placed a blank tag over the price at the inside front flap; the price itself is intact; mylar-protected. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder. NOT a Book-Club Edition. NOT an Ex-Library copy. 8vo. (8.75 x 5.95 x 1 inches). 241 pages. White quarter cloth with grey boards; Blue titles at backstrip. Deckle Fore-Edge. Weight: 1 pound, 0.8 ounces. Hardback with DJ. This is a powerful collection of 12 short stories written about women, their intimacies, and the intricacies of their relationships. The stories are set in Canada, Kenya, and France--all places where Huggan herself has lived.
Synopsis
Isabel Huggan grew up in small-town Ontario, an experience that shaped her prize-winning first book, The Elizabeth Stories , which established her as an original, talented writer. In 1987 her husband’s work took the family to Kenya and she has found herself living abroad ever since -- a situation reflected in You Never Know . Her work has been published in the United States, Great Britain, France, Spain, Holland and Italy. She still returns yearly to Canada from France.
