About This Item
Autobiography of the humorist Oscar Ameringer. Originally published in 1940 by Henry Holt and Company. This reprint, 2005.
From Foreward by Carl Sandburg: "I have seen him in Milwaukee and Chicago, taking the platform in a crowded, smoke-filled hall, facing rows of somber and sober-faced workingmen, talking to them about their troubles, about woe and injustice and inequalities, drawing contrasts, soon bringing smiles to the faces and finally roars of laughter. ... Yet he is more often a man on fire over the injustice between man and man, over the chaos and darkness of so many human fates where he cannot be a silent witness,..."
Fine condition except very minimal bottom corner wear and a few brown spots on bottom page edges. Otherwise clean and tight. No spine creases. Almost like new. Please see photos.
476 pages including Index.
