Author's last completed work.A young adult historical novel (rewritten in 1951).The novel describes the operations of the Young Guard, an anti-German resistance organization operating in 1942–1943 in and around the city of Krasnodon in eastern Ukraine. Many of the Young Guard were executed by the Germans. Tight binding. Pencil marks highlighting some words and passages. Beige coverboards with red and black lettering. Frontis is a photograph of author. Light bumping to boards. A small receipt laid in the book has created a small shadow on one page. A couple of pages have a light crease at bottom corner. Dust jacket has small chips/tears around edges. Original price stamped on rear endpaper. Size: 8vo (8" to 9"). 715 pp.
