Color Lithograph. Very good condition. One 10" x 8-1/4" sheet folded once, with advertising on both sides. Advertising for the Chalmers Motor Company During World War I. -- Probably part of (or a cover of a brochure that had additional pages) as one can see where it was formerly stapled. -- Chalmers Motor Company was an American car company headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. The company started in 1908 and continued producing high-end vehicles until 1923, when it merged with Maxwell forming the basis for the Chrysler Corporation. -- Woman in uniform color lithograph has printed signature of Lol Mayer at bottom right. "In the early 1900's, Miss Lotta Miles successfully promoted Kelly Springfield Tires in the US. In 1973, Groucho Marx said, "She was used in ads for the Springfield Tire Company, and her face was all over the place. Lotta Miles wasn't her real name, but they called her that because of the tires. She was beautiful, really beautiful. There were a few 'Miss Lotta Miles' who made the name famous, and one even continued using that name- Florence Reutti, from Buffalo, New York. The original Lotta Miles was Jean Newcombe, a successful Broadway musical performer. At one point in both Reutti's and Newcombes's careers, and in an interesting twist, they both happened to share the stage in the play Fifty-Fifty Limited, a musical adaptation of William Gillette's All the Comforts of Home.
