About This Item

New York: Atria Books, 2010. First Atria hardcover edition [stated]. First printing [stated]. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. [8], 292, [4] pages. Illustrations (color). Signed by the author on the half-title page. Apolo Anton Ohno (born May 22, 1982) is an American retired short track speed skating competitor and an eight-time medalist (two gold, two silver, four bronze) in the Winter Olympics. Ohno is the most decorated American Olympian at the Winter Olympics. He has been the face of short track in the United States since winning his medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics. He was the reigning champion from 2001-2009, winning the title a total of 12 times. He became the first American to win a World Cup overall title in 2001, which he won again in 2003 and 2005. He won his first overall World Championship title at the 2008 championships. Ohno's accolades and accomplishments include being the U.S. Speedskating's Athlete of the Year for 2003. Ohno served as a commentator for NBC's coverage of the 2014 and 2018 Winter Games. "Zero regrets. It's a philosophy not just about sport but about life. .... You have to figure out who it is you want to be. Not what you want to be—who. There has to be a vision, a dream, a plan. Then you chase that with everything you've got." Over three consecutive Olympic games, Apolo Ohno has come to symbolize the very best of the competitive spirit—remaining equally gracious in victory and defeat, always striving to improve his performance, and appreciating the value of the hard work of training. Apolo shares the inspiring personal story behind his remarkable success, as well as the hard-won truths and strategies he has discovered in good times and bad. From that moment on, the world of speed skating had a new champion and Apolo was on his way to legendary status. In this deeply personal and entertaining book, Apolo shows how we can all come closer to living with zero regrets. While Apolo's own journey may be unique, the insights he has gleaned along the way have the power to help us all feel like champions every day.
