Full calf leather binding with red morocco title label to spine. One of the earliest American imprints of Mackenzie's widely used book of receipts for commerce, arts, health and cooking. Illustrated with in text woodcuts. Text block soundly bound and complete. Front board cleanly detached at the front joint; rear board sound. Endpages complete. Spotting and foxing moderate throughout. Text in two columsn; several woodcut figures. Thousands of recipes for every manner of use including for making color in paint and for cloth, varnishes and finishes, health, tonics and cures, cleaning, tanning of skins, dining, brewed and distilled spirits etc. An easy candidate for a basic repair to the front joint.
