Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Full title: "The Antiquities of York City and the Civil Government thereof: with A List of all the Mayors and Bayliffs, Lord Mayors and Sheriffs, from the Time of King Edward the First, to this Present Year 1719. Collected from Papers of Christopher Hildyard, Esq. With Notes and Observations, andnthe Addition of Ancient Inscriptions and Coates of Arms, from Gravestones and Church-windows. And Since Continued to this present Year, 1719. With an Appendix of the Dimensions of York Minister, The Names of the Founders, Repairers, and Benefactors. A Catalogue of all the Religious Houses, Chappels, and that Churches, that have been, and at present are, in the said City. And also he Gifts and Legacies to the Charity-Schools, with the Names of the first Promoters and Founders thereof." Includes printed dedications to Sir William Robinson, of Newby, Baront. Member of Parliament for the City of York and Robert Fairfax, Esq; Alderman of the City of York by Francis Hildyard. Contains vignette illustrations of York Coat of arms and those of others. Full leather with matching decorative tooling on the front and rear covers and banded spine. Surface of leather on spine is cracked and there are short splits on the joints at the spine-ends. Covers are firmly attached, although paper is split over inner hinges, text block binding is sound. Brown spot on 1st/2nd page. Clean pages. Bookplate of David Stather in inside of front cover.
