Washington: W.H. and O.H. Morrison, 1868. 16mo. 58 pages + plates, map (see description). Original publisher's cloth. Spine sunned; scattered and light foxing or toning; very good.
This Reconstruction Era edition of Morrison's Stranger's Guide for Washington City (1868) is quite scarce to commerce. A handsome copy, the large map of the city folded inside into the rear cover is in excellent condition. Also within are: Twenty-five plates + 6 folding plates depicting the House and Senate in session (2); a birds-eye view of the city, with the Capitol in the foreground (1); and floor plans of the Capitol (2).
The publisher's declared that this seventh edition was "a new work. It has been entirely rewritten, and embraces a description of the public buildings, grounds, and objects of interest in the city and its vicinity."
