The Society of Mind is the title of this wpork as wellas the name of a theory of natural intellignece as written and developed by Marvin Minsky, the co-founder of the Artificial Intellignce Lab at MIT. To Minsky, the mind is a "society" that arises out of ever smaller agents that are themselves mindless. Mirroring the structure of this theory, The Scociety of Mind has a bold and original format; It is an intellectual puzzle the reader assembles along the way. Each section a self contained page, corresponds to a si ngel piece of the puzzle, and- as in a mosaic- a unified theory of mind emerges before the reader's eyes.
