Leighton, PA: Leighton High School. 1932. Hardcover. Very Good with no dust jacket; Two Yearbooks From Leighton High School, Leighton, Pennsylvania, 1931 and 1932. Franz Kilne was a student there and was Artist for the Yearbook in his Junioi Year. Most of the cartoons and decorations were done by him. His Signature appears in both books. Franz Kline was part of abstract expressionist movement in New York City in the 1940's and 50's. Both Books are in good condition. The 1931 Yearbook has a weak and loose spine. The 1932 Yearbook has a weak spine. Both have some edgewear. ; B&W Illustrations .

Yanofsky was a pioneer geneticist who "showed that suppressor mutations result in the reappearance of an enzyme that has been missing from a mutant organism." McGraw-Hill, Modern Men of Science, p. 621. He carried out numerous studies of tryptophan and Neurospora Crassa, and made significant contributions to the science of genetics. Yanofsky studied at Yale, and in 2003 was awarded the National Medal of Science. Most of the papers bear the rubber stamp or signature of Pioneer Caltech geneticist Norman Horowitz. WITH: YANOFSKY. Small ownership label of A.B.W. MacEwen, the author and genealogist. INSCRIBED & SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title page, with that persons signature on the title page, appears to be "G.H.F.Stuart, 1898". The linen-backed, folding Genealogical Table shows light foxing and a few closed tears, the book shows occasional light foxing, covers show occasional edge nick, with small stain.

Tor House, Carmel, California, 1939-1947. Includes two 2-page letters, six half- to full-page letters, and 12 postcards. All are entirely handwritten and quite legible. Nineteen are to Robert Gros; one is to a Mr. Getz. They cover a wide range of topics including social events, invitations to visit, acknowledgements for items received, travel plans, WWII concerns (for sons Garth and Donnan), family trips for Robinson's readings, the "new" play (MEDEA), and Una's own medical concerns. Robert R. Gros (1915-1997) was a corporate executive and government adviser on international affairs. He twice rode the military airlift supply operations into blockaded Berlin after World War II, served several U.S. presidents and was personally commended by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 for his services to the American Council on NATO. Altogether very good to near fine.

Its publication came at a time when Japan was experiencing a dramatic shift from the conservative, isolationist policies of the sh gun-dominated Edo period to the rapid and widespread drive to modernise and engage with the rest of the world that characterizes the Meiji Restoration. This booklet focuses on a traditional domestic interior and features a beautiful double-page plate showing the layout and arrangement of a Japanese period home, showing respective zones for food preparation, cooking and the entertainment of guests. Items specifically illustrated and described include lacquer wares, a charcoal-burning stove, lanterns, wooden buckets and items used in the tea ceremony.
