Description:
Philadelphia: (Carey, Lea & Blanchard / Carey & Lea), 1833. Hardcover. Good. Two works in one volume. 12mo. Bound in half morocco and marbled paper over boards, gilt spine, marbled endpapers. Scuffing to the boards and joints, scattered foxing, good. A unique pairing of two popular tales. The first work: The *Duchess of Berri in La Vendée* (written by Alexandre Dumas from the narrative of Dermoncourt), is the first American edition (pp. iv, 188). The other work is the first edition of Washington Irving's *Alhambra* (the second volume only: pp. 236). The original title page of the *Alhambra* is clipped at the top and bottom and tipped-in, with an early owner's signature in ink dated Nov. 14th, 1846. Both works are scarce in the trade. *BAL* 10136.
