A near fine copy in red cloth boards with an attractive bookplate to the front pastedown, a gift inscription to the front free endpaper and some offsetting to the front endpapers as well. There is also some slight wear to the boards as well. No dust jacket. Despite the minor flaws a very nice copy.

Frontispiece portrait of Dunsany with tissue guard and fifteen additional black & white plates inserted throughout the text. Inscribed by Bierstadt on the front free endpaper: "Mar 1917 / To my dear friend Stuart Walker / who has done much for Dunsany, / more for the drama in America, / and most of all for "the least of these" / Edward Hale Bierstadt." Beneath the inscription Dunsany has boldly signed the book with his quill pen: "Countersigned / Dunsany".
