An exceptionally sharp copy First edition, first printing, of this early collection of Bukowksi prose (one of only 500 printed), an exceptionally fresh copy of this delicate publication. This title marks the debut of Bukowski's alter-ego Henry Chinaski, the "pulp fiction hero" (Kirsch) who subsequently appeared in five of Bukowski's novels, a number of short stories, and the films Barfly (1987) and Factotum (2005). Octavo. Original pink wrappers stapled at the spine, illustrated with painting by Anna Purcell on front and sketch by Bukowski on rear. Muticoloured leaves within, mimeographed text within.
