Description:
New York & London: Harper & Bros, 1919. Cahan (1860-1951) is probably most famous as the socialist editor of the Yiddish-language newspaper, "The Daily Forward." But "Levinsky" endures as perhaps the greatest novel written about the emmigrant experience in America. Despite its fame, it is an uncommon title. This is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing of the First Edition (Harper letter code indicates date of 1919). Red cloth binding with gilt lettering (faded but readable on the spine); The corners are bumped ; some spotting and a small stain on the rear panel. Clean text; 530 pages with four pages of publisher's adverts. Contemporary (dated 1920) signature on the FFEP. Lacking the dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector. A presentable copy of one of the high spots of Twentieth-Century literature. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
