Good/Fair/No Jackets, as issued. 2 volumes from a larger uniform edition, numbers XVII and XXIII of the Works of Charles Dickens, Library Edition. Marbled boards, page edges, endpapers. Raised bands and gilt-decorated spines, although both volumes are quite worn and rubbed. Tale of Two Cities is in Fair condition only, with a broken binding, cover separated, and a clumsy tape repair. Dickens' travel writings and his classic novel of the French Revolution.

Binding has a 15mm scar on the fore-edge; pages slightly yellowed. Otherwise perfect. Gilt titles on spine; top edge coloured; fancy end-papers. Unread. "Pictures Italy" is added in at the end of American Notes and the pagination continues therefrom. The "Pictures" does not feature as a title on the spine so it comes as a surprise. Part of a uniform set but no of vols in the set is unknown probably 16.
