The hinge gutters are starting to tear on the front board about half and on the rear six tears to 5 cm. The corners are bumped and worn to one cm and the rear board has a two by one cm wear to edge of board. The front and rear hinges are complete and firm, light foxing, no marks with 824 pp. C

Thick, large octavo hardcover in green cloth woth spine lettered in gilt. xxiv+ 899 pp. with errata list on verso of final leaf. Illustrated with maps, small engravings, charts, drawings, folding plates. A generally tight example, spine lettering bright, some minor light spots to the front cover, some light damping to the upper 1/3 of the rear cover but interior complete and fully intact including all plates. The large geological folding map of New Jersey was apparently never bound into this copy. A very acceptable copy of a book usually found damaged and shaken.
