Hinge cracked at gutter in one place (second page‚—second page), binding remains tight, otherwise. Tanning to pages from age, doesn't affect text or illustrations. Hard cover quarto (measuring 8 ¾ x 11 inches) in full leather with a design of round, embossed borders of filigree and banding in black, highlighted with owners' name on center front in gilt: " Rosa B. Closson.," 488 pp. Gilt is used to highlight the raised cords of the six compartments on the spine, which also has additional embossed design in black. The turn-ins are also rolled in a gilt filigree pattern, which shows off nicely upon the colorful marbled endpapers. All edges gilt, and all board edges rolled with gilt.
