Quarto; pp v (xvi) 271 (279, colophon); 31 tipped in colour plates as called for with captioned tissue guards; original red cloth covered boards lettered in gilt with four hunting scenes enclosed in circles. Recently rebacked in red cloth with gilt lettering on the spine; bookplate of King Edward VII's Hosptal for Officers on paste down; discrete stamp of same on lower corner of ffep; gift inscription from A. Gardner-Waterman to Sister Agnes. The inscription reads: To Sister Agnes and the King Edward VII Hospital / from a most grateful patient/ A. Gardner-Aterman. Clean throughout with one plate detached but present. Lt Col. Alan Gardner-Waterman (1882 - 1953) was educated in Sutherland House School in Folkestone from the age of eight, then Uppingham from 1896 - 1899, before attending the Royal Military Academy, Woolich. In 1900 he received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery and served in India before serving in France, WWI. He was wounded…
