First American edition, thus, of this classic German cookbook intended for the large German-American immigrant community. Although based on the 22nd European edition of Davidis’ Praktisches Kochbuch, this work was substantially revised and in collaboration with Georg Brumder’s wife Henriette. They created a bi-cultural cookbook, introducing American ingredients, and American recipes, together with many from local Milwaukee German-American housewives, and the Newhall House Hotel restaurant.
