With an engraved [ Baronial?] bookplate [ possibly John Henry Vivian, or his son, Sir Arthur Pendarves Vivian ( member of the Royal Geographical Society), inked name on recto of frontispiece, the frontispiece caption is trimmed, and spotted. Denon, a noted artist and engraver, accompanied Napoleon's troops into Egypt to record the scenery and antiquities. This volume describes the plates of the Atlas volume. Additionally there are important Appendices about the pyramids at Geza, Alexandria, minerals, medicine, "Memoire sur le Commerce des Negres au Caire, et sur les Maladies, ...", etc. This British edition, with French text, is quite scarce.
