Georgetown, Calif.: Talisman Press, 1964. First edition. Edition limited to 750 copies.. A fine book, entirely clean and unworn, in fairly worn jacket. Original olive-green cloth; quarto; 258 pp. Fronitispiece, 2 illustrations, map endpapers. Considered the best account of French participation in the California gold rush. 4 of the 13 letters translated here were written from San Francsico, where Derbec later edited a French-language newsaper - "Echo du Pacifique" - the others from the mining districts. Kurutz 190.
