Moisture contact has led to spotting/dye lightening along portions of both cover edges, mild darkening to lower front cover and lower spine panel, mild binding lean. Mild foxing/tanning to endpapers, interior otherwise clean and unmarked, binding firm. Dust jacket shows loss to about 1 1/2" along portions of top edge and to about 1" along portions of bottom edge, some loss along front flap fold, typical tanning, now in mylar. Both book and DJ are stated 5th ptgs. (revised through 1946)..

Comes with insert stating this is a "Review Copy, with the compliments of G>P. Putnam's Sons," allowing for quoting in periodical or radio review up to 750 words, and publication date: May 18. Black and white photography throughout. No previous owners' names or other markings. Light wear to boards and bumping to head and tail of spine. Wear to dust jacket and closed tears with some losses at spine; central losses to dust jacket spine seem to be created by consistent rubbing. 6 x 8 1/4 inches. Shipped through boxed USPS Priority mail.

Inscribed by the author: "To Charlie - As always. Frank Graham." The recipient, Charlie Segar, was a baseball writer for the *Brooklyn Citizen*. In the 1920s he was the director of the Baseball Writers' Association. He later served seventeen years as the Secretary-Treasurer of Major League Baseball, mostly under another former sportswriter, Commissioner Ford Frick. A nice association - Segar started his career covering the Dodgers.
