Description:
First Edition/First Printing of Hazlitt's great novel, originally published as "The Great Idea" by Appleton-Century-Crofts, 1951 (New York, NY). In Time Will Run Back, Hazlitt envisions a future in which the communists won and have been in power for more than 100 years. All traces and artifacts of the ancient capitalist world have been wiped out. Hazlitt himself acknowledged his novel bears some similarities to 1984 (published two years earlier, which he hadn't read). He explained that authors like Orwell, Aldous Huxley (and his Brave New World) and he were: "plagiarizing from the actual nightmare created by Lenin, Hitler and Stalin….All the writers had done was to add a few logical extensions not yet generally foreseen." Toning to endpapers in very scarce complete unclipped jacket with small chips to edgewear. Book #vC2334. $295. We specialize in rare Ayn Rand and other legends and landmarks.

81 Centre Avenue, New Rochelle, N.Y.: Arlington House Publishers, 1961. Stated Revised Edition published in 1966 by Arlington house. First edition thus of this classic story espousing the benefits of free enterprise and capitalism. Originally published in 1951 as "The Great Idea". The revision is rather unique for finished novels, but clarifies the ending and moral of Hazlitt's monumental, but concise concepts. Black buckram (cloth) boards, crisp gilt spine titles, fine. Pages fine, no writing. Bind fine, square; hinges intact. Dust wrapper, moderate shelf wear, rub, areas of toning; unclipped 6.00, protected in new clear sleeve. Near fine scarcity in near very good wrapper. So this was Moscow! The capital of WonWorld! In this dystopian novel, Peter Uldanov is the son of WonWorld's dictator, Stalenin. Although he leads a sheltered life, Peter is appalled by the poverty, slave labor, and horrors witnessed. Upon succeeding his father as dictator, Peter unleashes a…
