VG++. 1st Edition. 13.7 x 21.6cm red paperback with black titles to the front and spine, 72pp. Signed and inscribed by the author on the back of the title page, to friend and fellow poet Terence Hards. The book is well preserved with a little rub to the top corner of the front cover and a little fading to the spine. It is now protected in a clear, rigid removable cover (not shown in our images). It won the 1974 Cholmondley Award and includes the 1st appearance in book form of her most famous poem 'Warning', which begins 'When I am an old woman I shall wear purple / With a red hat which doesn't go... ' which was voted Britain's favourite post war poem in a BBC poll and is the inspiration behind The Red Hat Society. A lovely association copy.
