Foreword by Allan Nevins of Columbia University and subsequently Georgetown who Kennedy gives great credit in his Preface. "The entire Manuscript was greatly improved by the criticisms Professor Nevis offered." The word aroung Georgetown and DC at the time of publication was that Nevins had indeed written most of the book!
