Dark purple coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed design to the panels with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. An account of an history, of over 2000 years, of Sephardi Jewish history, in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain). The book is in good condition for age. Bumping rubbing of the back strip edges; rubbing and a little fraying of rubbing of the book panels the book edges with marks stain and erosion marks panels, particularly the front panel. Fading of the back strip. Tanning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Both the front and hinges with the underlying webbing visible previous owners name top edge of the title page. This work is complete with its facsimile of the inscription in the synagogue of Toledo, and two full-page engravings depicting the ancient synagogue of Toledo. Some age wear on binding with spine sunned and rubbing along edges. Upper part of back cover partly discolored. Hinges starting. Plates foxed.
