Head of spine faded, and thin stain at bottom of side foredge. Otherwise clean and tight. The jacket is edgeworn and chipped, and there is a piece torn off the top of the back panel. A section in the middle of the spine is tearing off. Stryker was a prominent criminal defense attorney best known for his work in the Alger Hiss trial of 1949.

Author inscription to front free endpaper. $250. * First edition. Dated March 25, 1954, the inscription reads: "To/ John Sibley Esq./ from an old and admiring friend,/ Lloyd Paul Stryker." Stryker was probably the finest defense lawyer of his day. Sibley, a notable Atlanta lawyer and businessman, is remembered today as the chair of the Sibley Commission, which oversaw desegregation in the Atlanta School system.
