Covers and corners slightly worn, upper cover slightly rubbed, lower cover dusty and damp stained along lower edge, inner paper hinges neatly strengthened, tiny worm hole to lower margin of title page and next 3 leaves, occasional pale marks to margins, 3 upper margins faintly foxed, small closed tear to 1 lower margin. A good copy. The stories owe something to Wilhelm Busch's Die fromme Helene, translated into English in 1872 as Pious Jemima. 8 items are about Maria, titles include Maria and the Inks; Maria and the Paints; Maria and the Scissors; Hilda Manners; Oliver Day (who almost drowned).
