Constable, London., 1943. First edition. Octavo. pp x, 206. Illustrated. Endpaper genealogies. The second volume in the series In Search of the Past. Presentation copy from the author, inscribed by him on the half-title page: ''For Channon from Harold June 30 1943''. The recipient is Henry ''Chips'' Channon who was along with Nicolson one of the great political diarists of the twentieth century. Both were bisexual, Members of Parliament, although for different parties, and appear frequently in each other's diaries. One of their main bones of contention was the appeasement of Hitler for whom Channon had a great admiration.Covers slightly marked. Very good indeed in very good indeed, slightly marked dustwrapper with a few nicks.
