The pages are otherwise clean with no writing or tears. The title page shows 1924 as the published date. This is definitely Not a former library book. Thompson was born in St. Louis of French parentage and was sent to France to attend school, but returned to this country early and moved to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, then an unsettled wilderness.
