Description:
New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1950. Very good plus.. Scarce first edition of a beautifully complete book of punch-out paper train components to be assembled by the reader. This title was published in the twilight years of the steam engine, as lines began to switch to diesel. It was also the beginning of a steep decline in passengers as the car fell in price and rose in popularity, and better roads were built across the country. Includes pieces for the locomotive, tender, automobile car, refrigerator car, gondola, flat car, hopper, cattle car, tank car, and caboose. 10.75'' x 14''. Original color pictorial wrappers. Illustrated in color. [10] leaves with die-cut shapes; instructions to rear wrapper. Mild edgewear to wrappers with some soiling, particularly to lower margin of front wrapper; spine lightly sunned. Interior sharp and intact.
